New York Cabaret Appearance
December 5, 2003
Robert Marks' Spotlight Showcase
at Danny's Skylight Room Cabaret at Danny's Grand Sea Palace
(346 West 46th Street, New York City Restaurant Row)
Greg's cabaret debut in New York was on Friday, December 5, 2003. A group of friends, coworkers, and supporters from Rhode Island chartered a bus to the city to attend the concert. Though snow was predicted for late in the day, the morning started out just cold and overcast. As the bus approached the Connecticut/New York border, we met the line of the approaching snow storm. By the time the bus got to midtown Manhattan, New York had already been blanketed by approximately four inches of heavy, wet snow.
Concert-goers slogged through slush and puddles throughout the day as they shopped and did some limited sightseeing in the city. By show time, everyone converged on the Skylight Room at Danny's Grand Sea Palace for Greg's concert. Inside, it was cozy and warm (and dry!) and the crowd had a great time. Those who had never heard Greg perform before were amazed that someone so talented could be one of their friends or co-workers. Even those who had seen him perform before were impressed by the ease and professionalism of the show. And that voice! The power, emotion, and range made for a wonderful evening of entertainment.
Greg has worked with New York vocal coach Robert Marks, who has also coached
Sarah Jessica Parker, Deborah Gibson, Robert Morse, Lea Salonga, Elliott Gould, and Britney Spears.
By the time the bus was ready to head home, the snow had accumulated even more. Unknown to most people on the bus, nearly everything had been cancelled on Saturday, due to the paralyzing storm. We made our way – slowly – back to Rhode Island, taking an extra two-and-a-half hours for the trip. Our skilled driver (trained in snowy Vermont) informed us later that all of the commercial bus lines had cancelled all service from Boston to New York because of the storm. Finally home, everyone was glad that they were safe and warm and had had a chance to see Greg in his New York debut and get a chance to purchase his CD a week before the official hometown release.

Theatre Works Members Perform at Mardi Gras Queen's Coronation

On Sunday, February 23rd, Greg sang music from the 1950s with four other Theatre Works' members in keeping with the Coronation's theme, "Happy Days of Mardi Gras." The theme was chosen to pay tribute to the origins of Mardi Gras in Woonsocket in 1954. Suspended in 1959, this tradition was revived in 1995 by the Northern Rhode Island Council of the Arts. Greg and Theatre Works members Connie and Mark Anderson, Kathy Donahue, and John Pacheco performed the music of Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee, Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Pat Boone, and Nat King Cole. The group performed to an appreciative crowd, many of whom have seen and enjoyed Theatre Works' productions. They received a Certificate of Appreciation from the event's chair, Susan T. MacKenzie.
